Alright, I have spend the past 36 hours since my OS upgrade to 2.2 finding how to root my phone.

I have tried z4root and Super One Click. Neither one of them are working.

Anybody else has any other suggestions?

One click roots do not currently work for 2.2.1.

I doubt there will ever be a 1-click method for 2.2.1.

No. As far as I know you cannot flash a 2.1 ROM over 2.2.

Just having SU does not mean you can flash ROMs. One needs a custom recovery to do that.

dam dam dam after reading this i may not be posble to root the lg ally for the time being. i guess i will have to do internet with the pdanet. the stupde 3g hot spot has a cap on so i will never use it dam 10gb cap is not good for me just becasue 3g is the only way i can get high speed internet and not dial-up. i guess i will have to watch and see what happens in the next few months. or i mite of to switch to a differnet phone then the lg ally even thos i love having for the price point i had gotten ($49.99).

edit: opp may be i can i just check some stuff on my phone lets see if it will work with out bricking my phone lol then that would be bad

I rooted my ally after updating to 2.2.1, using superoneclick. It didn't work the first time I tried it, then I did some weird method that involved turning usb debugging off and on while the program was running and it worked.

Somewhere on the first post, in this link, it says something about when to do that usb debuging on / off thing

Also I don't know if I used the newest version of tthis program. I didn't want to register for that site so I found a download elsewhere.
