Why is it possible to move some Apps to SD card and the other Apps do not allow you to...the button is gray. What makes some of the Apps movable and some not?

It's up to the app developer to make it movable to the SD card.

I'm curious why so many apps can't be moved to the SD card. Is there some disadvantage to making them movable? I have uninstalled several apps I like but don't use often in favor of ones I use all the time, simply because I keep running low on space. Almost none of the ones I like and use are movable, and it sucks!

As Vol4one said, it is up to the developer.

For most apps there is no advantage or disadvantage to making them moveable, exceptions would be a banking app where allowing it to be moved to an SD card might make it less secure.

How does moving a banking app to the SD card make it any less secure?

Widgets currently do not work when saved on the SD card either.

If you root all apps can be moved, with the exception of widgets. They can move technically, but they won't work.

I said it might make it less secure and not that it will and was only using banking as an example. I also am not referring to rooted phones. If you root your phone, you can throw security out the window (IMO). The average user isn't rooted and anything saved to the phone's memory is not as accessible as something saved on the SD Card.

I will have to agree with those points except the rooting and security. Though this is not the thread so I will cease commenting off topic now. :-)
