Good day. I just bought this smart phone on Ebay. It is by Verizon. Now I understand it has no SIM Card Slot. ( hey, I'm new to cell phones ). We live in Vancouver, but travel to the Philippines, can I use it there without going to Global Roaming, e.g.: by using the Philippine Network alone? Global Roaming is much too costly. http://cgi.ebay.ca/w...E:B:BCA:US:1122

    Thankyou.

The Ally is a CDMA phone. http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp Shows a map of the world where CDMA is used. If you select Asia Pacific and then Philippines it shows a list of companies that offer CDMA service over there. I don't know if one of those Providers can activate your Ally on their network in the Philippines. The Ally is very much a Verizon phone and unless you root the phone, I don't think one of those providers can do much with it.

Verizon and other CDMA carriers offer a selection of "World" phones. These also have a GSM radio in them as well as a SIM card slot. I think you can get a SIM card from a GSM provider in the Philippines and activate that phone there, but this is not something the Ally does.

This really isn't my area of expertise. But I think that's how it works.
