USB Driver help

HI I know this has been played out in other forums but I'm not getting anywhere. I have been trying to get my computer (win xp) to recognize my phone through the usb. I can charge through it but nothing else. I have also downloaded all the drivers and still nothing. Even when I plug the phone in I don't get any response from the computer. Nothing listed in my device manager either. Nothing in my notification bar on the phone either. Please help! getting pretty frustrated, about to ditch the phone all together. Any help would be greatful.

Is USB debugging checked? If not it won't be recognized as a drive, if it is checked then it's something else. It's under settings, applications, development, and the box is there.

I have tried this and still nothing. I also went ahead and loaded the usb drive before hand. Thanks.

Have you tried a different computer?

In addition to Ally's suggestion of a different computer I have found that sometimes different USB ports act differently so: Have you tried the other UDB ports on the computer?
