Ever since the last update (the one that required the stupid update app first) no apps will download to my phone when I'm using the wifi at my house they keep pausing for no reason and earlier it tried to download all the apps I wanted twice does anyone have some advice???

I'll take a stab @ this, but there are others who are way more qualified than me.
Is your wifi switching off when the screen goes black and that could be causing downloads to interrupt? IMO, this should only be the problem if you do not have a good 3g signal as a back up.
Check you wifi settings
From home screen>menu>settings>wireless & networks>wi-fi settings>menu>advanced>sleep policy
Check "never" and try to download again
The problem is it only works if the screen is off for like 2 or 3 hours it just randomly pauses if the screen is on so I have to do my downloads when I go to sleep
Since you are using WiFi, I have no idea what the issue might be. What I would try is a different WiFi network and see if I have the same issue. If yes, the problem is with the phone. If not, it is with the WiFi network.

Wifi just hates my phone lol I tried it on my moms office wifi and it wouldn't even pull up the market it kept saying error server not found retry or cancel
