what insurance can i get for my Ally that covers water damage?

My husband dropped his phone in the toilet a few days ago. He put it in a bowl of rice for 2 days and it is working fine now. That kind of thing has never happened to either one of us before. But now I am nervous that something like this could happen to me and I might not be so lucky and have a working phone afterwards. Lol. I do not have insurance on my phone, only the 1 year manufactorer warrenty that is about to be up next month, which does not cover water damage anyway. Is there insurance that I can get on my LG Ally that will cover water damage?

Well when you upgraded or purchased the phone you are able to enroll in the Asurion Total Coverage. I think it's $6.99/m. Which come in handy, you could cal and say, I was looking my bill and noticed I dont have insurance which I told them I wanted when I got the phone, they have to give you it. Or just tell them you want it. I mean anything that gives them a little more money a month they'll be happy to see you.

At this point in ownership, you are pretty much out of luck. Asurion requires enrollment within 30 days of original purchase. Alternatives, such as Squaretrade only covers equipment issues which requires enrollment within 90 days of purchase (accidental handling coverage is extra and must be done within 30 days of purchase). I would not recommend purchasing insurance on your phone. Asurion insurance is $6.99 per month, plus they have a $99 deductible. Theses phone can be purchased used for the price of Asurion's deductible. All that insurance money you haven't been spending is money in your pocket. Keepe the $7 a month and save up for your next phone.

Thanks everyone. I went to Verizons website and it looks like, if our phone stops working caused by water damage and it is before our 2 yr upgrade, we would have to pay $350. That's a lot of money. So if that happens to me, I'm screwed. Lol

I agree with OneFore9. The insurance is not worth it with the $99 deductible. I never buy insurance for electronics. I did once when Circuit City was still around and when I tried to use it, I got the run around. Store said to go online, online said to call 800#, 800# said to go to store. Then they wouldn't accept it because it had faded and a couple numbers were missing.



Also, you won't have to pay the $350 if you get a replacement phone (from a friend or eBay) and have them switch your line to the phone. As long as you continue service, you have not broken your 2 year agreement and they can't charge you. I have done this a couple of times in the past.
