Is there a way to initiate a software dowload from my ally browser and transfer it onto my pc by tethering?

My understanding is that teathering converts the phone into a modim (however you spell it). In that case you would find the page in the computers browser then download it and not have to transfer it.

If you want to use the phone to download a file (or whatever) you can later on move the file to the computer either with a USB cord or via a Bluetooth connection (if your computer is bluetooth capable.
