Is there a reset hole or keypress combination that will reboot the phone when it freezes up? It's really a pain to remove my case and the battery is difficult to remove.

If you are looking to just reboot your phone... on the "home screen", hold down the power button (hang up) and you will get a screen that will allow you to power off the phone. Once powered off, just press it again to turn it back on.

If you want to do a full factory reset...

From the Home screen, press the menu key . Touch Settings, Privacy, Factory data reset and touch reset phone.

    Hope this helps,

    Nick

Holding down power button = Soft Reset

    Pulling battery = Hard Reset

If your phone locks up I would imagine the power button prolly wouldn't be responsive.

When it locks up, none of the buttons are responsive. I was hoping for something similiar to what my PPC6800 and my Axim have, a reset hole that is used to reboot if your system locks up.

For future reference just in case I screw something up big time, a factory reset will put the phone back the way it was when I bought it right? Then I just need to reload any apps\widgets and contacts, etc.

I assume that does not apply to a "rooted" phone though??

No, if you root the phone you cannot do a factory reset.

If I was going to root a phone, I would try to find a way to create a backup of the phone's memory first. That way if I wanted to revert it back I could. But I don't know if such a thing is possible. Rooting is not something that I have looked into and I don't plan on doing so to my phone. Not only could you screw your phone up but you break your warranty too. I would wait until the warranty is up before I would even attempt it but that is just me.
