My phone is telling me my text memory is full. I also tried to open an app last night and it was saying I didn't have enough phone space. I deleted some apps that I had down loaded but didn't use often. And it is still telling me this. How do I delete unused apps such as Myspace, You Tube and apps that came with the phone? I never use these apps and never listen or search for music on my phone, Can someone please help me?

The short answer is you can't unless you root the phone.
Now for some other things to do:
Go through your app list and move everything you can to the SD card.
Clear your cache.
Go to Gmail on your computer and empty the trash. Do the same with any other email program you have.
Delete old text messages from your phone.
Now see where you are, this may have freed up enough space for you to have 20 or more mgb free space which is the 'working space' the phone needs to work properly. If not come on back and see if anyone has posted any other ideas.

How do you clear the cache? I am having the same problem and did all the things you mentioned. Went from 7mg free to 12mg but that is all. I also deleted some apps that I very seldom use.

Edit: I found out how to clear the cache by going to manage programs and then clearing on each individual program. I only gained 1mg that way. Am up to 13mg free! Whoopee! (Not!)

One of my apps, Gmail, takes up a lot of my space. I can't move it to the SD card (that option is greyed out) and I don't understand why it is taking up 37MB of data. I thought the purpose of Gmail was that everything was stored 'in the cloud'.
Can anyone help enlighten this newbie?

If performance is an issue and you arent willing to strip down your phone to bare essentials the only thing you can do is root. i rooted a couple days ago for the first time since froyo and im running velocity 1.1, which i suggest you use. my battery life was awful the first two days but its fine now.
i forget how to decipher this but i know someone on here will:
Other: 41 MB in 3 Avail: 59 MB + 24 MB in 4
ATK tells me 70+ MB memory available when i kill everything, compared to 35-55 before i flashed velocity.
