If anybody has any success doing it. Chime in. Might start a new thread.

I am sure one of the 'hackers' will find a way. It just takes time. Just like with any newer software.

Just saw this post by LG Pro over at their forums. Those are interesting codes they've got over there we would never know about. I tried and it did not push the OTA so I will try to be patient. Apparently the wait is Verizon's distribution. But one poster here reports they got the OTA Froyo update. I hope I get mine soon!

Will this update work with rooted handsets? Mine still says that the system is up to date.

No word on whether it will work on Rooted Allys... You'll have to wait until you are prompted to update, or you can try the "Checkin" Code.... But I don't know if it's available yet through Verizon.

    • *#*#2432546#*#*
    • then go to Settings>> About Phone>> Software Update, to check.
    • To the best of my knowledge the "Over the Air" updating has not started to the Ally Users. Those that have the update, have gotten it through the LG Update tool at lg.com
I would wait for the update to be pushed out "OTA", it should start "Very Soon"

I take it that the ( *#*#2432546#*#* ) is typed in the subject window.

But where is it being SEND to?

    Thank you,

ahh - just typed it in as a phone call.

receied a notification " Checkin: success"

but going to : "then go to Settings>> About Phone>> Software Update, to check" did nothing new - Yet.

can not wait... like being a kid on Christmas morning.

Are you on Froyo? Did you factory reset after installation?

I'm sorry, I did not say this in my last post, I uninstalled all updates for Facebook then re installed them and the size went down to 4.45 MB.

I have not received the update for Froyo yet. Still waiting for the OTA.

And, yes, I was wondering the same thing about clearing data. I have never done it because I am afraid I will mess something up. Lol

To all the people that said they just received the OTA update today, where are you located?

    Papaya Farm 5.92 MB

Ok, I am in Northern VA. But if you received it in PA, maybe ours is coming next.

My Ally was rooted when it was 2.1. You don't have to wait. Go to LG website and install the software update for the phone and it will force the update onto the phone.

Follow the instruction on the computer to the tee! You don't need unroot. Everything will be there when you are done updating to 2.2 backup your stuff just in case. I update my contacts to google mail just in case.

    Good luck.
