You got to check out Verzions site for this:

Wish they would have done something like this for the Ally.

Would have been cool if they had done an Iron Man design for the Ally since so much of the promotion tied in with the movie.

BMB, yeah, there wasn't a lot of depth to that promotional tie-in, which was a disappointment for me (I'm a big comic-book nerd and Iron Man is one of my faves). A friend of mine is in marketing with Verizon, and I attended the midnight rollout of the R2D2. Overall, it was an odd night with lots of people in costumes, etc. No, I didn't buy an R2D2 Droid. But the special-edition live wallpapers are very cool, and there are all sorts of Star Wars clips, including an "R2D2's Greatest Moments" clip that was entertaining.

I'm sure a lot of people bought this phone with no intentions of ever turning it on, purely for its collectible potential value. I don't think I'd want it for everyday use; I wasn't particularly taken with the white and blue R2D2 scheme on the back.

I hate it when they use an awesome name for something not-so-awesome. Like the Incredible. This time next year that thing will be a paperweight. And by the time the R2D2 actually rolls out, there will be phones that make the R2-D2 look like a R5-D4. Just wished the companies would save some of the badass names for stuff that was really badass.

The R2D2 already rolled out. It was really just a marketing gimmick -- a limited-edition Motorola Droid 2. They had 80,000 available in the U.S. and I'm sure they've all been sold by now. As for the Incredible: Frankly, among it's competition in the Verizon lineup, it is a pretty incredible phone. But you're right: In a year, they'll probably be giving away the incredibles...
