    got my Ally last night.

i didnt have a ton of time to "Screw around" with it, but the little bit of playing i did was fun.

i have wifi at home, so i instantly connected to that and downloaded a few things to try out.

    so far no issues yet.

I'm coming from an Env Touch, I'm spending most of my time just getting familiar with the basics.

WiFi should be faster than 3G. 3G has the advantage of being almost everywhere but taps out at a connection speed burst of about 3Mbps where as most ISPs provide at least 15Mbps connection speeds and wireless 802.11g routers (most common with ISPs) provide 54Mbps. The Ally supports 802.11b/g/n as well.

Just be very careful when you are not in a WiFi area because your data usage ca go very fast. I used 2GB+ in one month thanks to Slacker streaming radio and a nicer YouTube app I found that lets me find more videos than the standard one.

Thanks for that info, very helpful.

so far i downloaded a few apps and played around with them... as far as streaming music, its not something i really do. i have a bunch of albums on my SD card so i play those mostly.

i downloaded 3g watchdog this morning, seems OK, so I'm checking that to keep track of it a few times a day.

if the data gets to much too handle I'll pony up for the unlimited, so far its good though.

I also came from the enV Touch -- great phone, but I haven't looked back. I hope you enjoy your Ally, and the Android experience.

yea so far I'm not looking back either.

Let me ask you though, i only activated my Ally Monday (11-8-10) night, so i was using a Touch as recently Monday early evening.

How do you like the keyboard compared to the touch?

maybe because its new, i like the touch's keyboard better, but that will probably dissipate with time.

what i do think about the Ally physical keyboard is the "home" and "menu" key on the top right of it. to me they are useless.

another "alt" key would have been nice, but minor stuff compared to the overall phone.
