from that LG forum thread I link to:

From Verizon.... "Enjoy improved performance with these OS enhancements. Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your LG Ally™ (VS740ZVC). The update for the LG Ally includes numerous enhancements and improvements. Verizon Wireless and LG encourage you to download this update.

    Improvements:

    • + Improved ability to play audio that is received via picture message
    • + Improved Exchange ActiveSync® (EAS) calendar synching.
    • + EAS provisioning feature is now compatible with all Microsoft Exchange Servers

    Enhancements:

    • + New version of Skype mobile.™
    • + VZ Navigator® is now preloaded on device."

you can check the version on your phone by going to the Settings>>About Phone>>SW Version

You need to look at the entry titled 'SW Version'. it should say something like VS740ZVC if you received the latest.

You can now, atleast if you have the android app PDA Net, if it is still available.

I love it. You download the app, there is a piece of software you download for your computer. if you dont have access to the new on the computer, when you start the app on the phone for the first time, you can download that file on your phone and transfer to PC via USB. Install the software on PC

You will have the software for free for the first week or so. you will be able to use it forever, but after the trial period you will not be able to enter secure sites (anything with a login and password)

It cost a 1 time fee of like 15 bucks. totally worth it and they give you support with it. check it out, great app, i have been able to tether since the phone came out.

as long as you have unlimited data, this will not cost you anything extra at all. what i have heard from verizon is that the tether from 2.2 might be an extra fee a month, similar to what i hear the blackberries have.

    hope this helps!

Looks like the issue with protected apps has been resolved also.

I use PDAnet also and I have no complaints.

Although it did cause my gf's phone to lose Root access, and universalandroot and z4 no longer work.
