Screen Goes Blank with Voice Mail

Does this happen to anyone else? When I have a voice message and go and retrieve it, I click on the Dial pad (to enter my password, and enter numbers depending on what I'm doing), and between clicking the Dial pad my screen goes blank. I move my thumb and it comes back. Sometimes I can't even react fast enough to the voice mail requests to enter a number to listen to the message......

Yes, this is caused by the proximity sensor. It is located to the right of the Verizon logo at the top of the screen (outside of the touch area). If anything is blocking that sensor, the screen goes black. The reason for this is to prevent your face from touching things on the screen during a call. What works for me, is I hold my phone flat in one hand and always keep my other hand near the bottom of the screen. I move from the bottom up to touch the keypads for voice mail etc.

This had been a big problem for me. But it happened no matter where my hand was. I recently changed my generic (cut your own) screen protector to a custom-cut version and was wondering why there was a cut-out in the corner. You just answered that for me, AA... it's because of the proximity sensor!

I need to get on these forums more often- they're so helpful. Thanks!

Screen still blacks out on VM

My screen blacks out when I click on listen to voicemail. I already fixed my proximity sensor and I only have the problem with VM. I have looked every where I can think of to fix it on the phone....

    Does anyone have ideas?
