I've been following the rollout of the Sensations on 'other fora' and to my surprise, I see a LOT of interest from current G2x owners, COMPLETELY ticked about their G2x phones, so I know your experience is hardly isolated. Thankfully, you've found a solution...I know I/We LOVE our Sensations, and have yet to find a fault with them (still learning them, though). They're already a well-designed and mature unit, right out of the box...what I expect from HTC. Enjoy yours!

Possible work around for some of the issues

    -Overheating, even at strange times
-Random rebooting, powering off, powering on, etc.
    -Noxious odor from battery compartment
    -Failure to make outgoing calls
    -Failure to receive inbound calls
-Even when inbound calls come through, unable to answer due to screen
    -Failure to receive voicemail
-Sudden lack of support for Name ID
    -Dropped data connections
-Staying “stuck” in 2G in a known 4G area
-GPS taking excessively long to lock on to location
    -Bluetooth won’t auto connect
-Wi-Fi loses connection, exacerbates other conditions
-Backlight “bleed” (at all 4 corners)
    -Failure to make 911 calls
-Whining noise coming from 3.5 audio jack when plugged in
-SIM card error, stuck in “Emergency Only Mode”
-Constant “failure to connect to network”, even though it appears to be connected
-Very poor download speeds (<1Mbps in major downtown area)
-Video chat? Forget it. Does LG make Qik too?
I am currently doing a soft reboot every 24 hours, (powerdown and restart)
    &
A hard reboot every 3 days, (powerdown, remove battery, wait 30 seconds, replace battery, & restart).

This has eliminated the random reboots, lockups, and shutdowns for me. Obviously this should not be necessary

I think the problem with the g2x rebooting and locking up is a heat issue. I downloaded and installed AndroSensor from the market and used the menu key -> device info to see that the CPU speed was at 1998.89 MHz! I don't believe it but if that's right then the stock ROM is overclocked to heck and back for some reason. Can some other of you g2x owners check that for me and see if yours shows the same?

I've had my G2x for 6 weeks now with no incidents and yesterday it started with the reboot issue right after I received a text message. 5 times in a row it rebooted. What I have noticed so far is that the reboot, for me anyway, only happens when I try to access the Notification bar at the top. This is really odd because the Notification bar was working just fine up until yesterday. The only thing that seemed buggy about the Notification bar was the facebook notifications would not show after about 5-7 days. I'd have to uninstall and reinstall the facebook app to get the notifications to show in the bar. The Notification bar, when you pull it down, shows T-Mobile in the header. I've heard that the G2x is not exactly a "pure android" phone, that T-Mobile has made some very slight customizations. Could this be the problem? Has anyone else noticed that their reboots are due to Notifications received in the bar and trying to open them from the bar? Can the Notification bar be disabled?

Not having had any issues, I really love this phone, and now that I'm past the 30 day period (I paid full price) I am worried they would not exchange it if the problem gets worse. For now, I am not accessing the Notification bar at all to keep if from rebooting.

I hate to say it, but back up your personal data and try a factory reset. You'll have to set your phone back up, but it might fix your problem.

Well, after many rounds of "crackflashing" (I did it with my OG Droid, the disease carried over), I went back to the stock froyo that came with the phone. This was over a week ago and I've had 1 reboot. No other issues have shown up.

For what it's worth, I tried all the roms available on xda-developers, and only had 2 that would play well with Weatherbug Elite. (3 if you count the stock rom). At the moment, I'm back to stock (but rooted) and so far, so good.

Factory reset the phone. All is great with the world now. Thanks Fur. We'll see how it lasts.

It's been 4 days and my G2x has frozen on me. Strangely enough, it happened right after i used a spare samsung usb charger. Been reading other forums, people mentioning other party charger might be tied to it freezing? Starting to think this freezing thing might not be a vocal minority thing unfortunately. Think i might return mines for a sensation. Really like the phone, but not gonna risk waiting for a fix.
