    Yes I agree with what xer is saying. Your going to want to do a little more research. I have two rooted phones and one that isn't.

    Rooting voids the warranty, so that's the biggest reason not to. It also allows applications to have access to the hardware and core of the OS in ways that are patently unsafe. However, if you are interested in making your phone faster, possibly "cooler", possibly more stable (or less stable, depending), etc. etc. etc. -- in short, modding your phone -- then you'll pretty much HAVE to root.
