Android.net is the premier Android Forum on the internet.
Reading and following the directions was the hardest part. Took just a few minutes to do it. I even flashed the leaked GB rom, but restored it back to stock. Not that the GB rom is bad, but it still needs some work/tweaks.

Glad it worked for you, even if you weren't pleased with it as it exists.![]()

Yeah it is always good to know you can root when you want.
I flashed Bionix2 and so far so good. It's a little more developed than the GB leak is, hopefully the official release will be more mature than the leak was.
One of the bad side effects of coming from the OG droid I suspect...never being quite satisfied with your current ROM...LOL!

And it's only going to get worse, I'm afraid, so enjoy what you got for now. As the lockdown gets more and more supermax than country club we'll find we have fewer and fewer options. I'm hoping the Wi-Fi-only tablets start coming unlocked. After all, how can you steal services if there's no 3/4G to steal in the first place? :D

Hi all, I've never had a smartphone before and the G2X is my first one. Could someone please let meknow:
- What do you mean by "root" the phone?
- What does "rooting the phone" help?
- If it is necessary, how can I do it?
Thanks in advance!
Rooting gives 6ou admin access on your phone. It allows you to remove system apps you don't want, overclock, make full system backups, among other goodies. Follow the link I posted in post 2 to root your device.
Thanks a lot. I read from another post that rooting might cause the cancellation of warranty. Is it true? If it is, does it worth to root?
