The LG Viper will be Sprint’s first LTE handset. Sprint announced today that pre-orders for the handset will officially begin on April 12, with the phone becoming available on a yet-to-be-announced date later this month.

LG Viper Specs:

• 4-inch WVGA touchscreen
• 1.2GHz dual-core processor
• 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing shooter
• 720p video capture
• 4GB ROM/512MB RAM
• NFC
• Sprint ID
• 3G/4G LTE connectivity
• 1,700mAh battery
• Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Sounds like a respectable little device, and it could be a good option for folks that want to get in on the Sprint 4G LTE action as early as possible but don't care for the Galaxy Nexus because of its larger display or for another reason.

Does anyone known if the Viper has a magnetometer (compass)? I am trying to decide which phone to get but the compass feature is important.
