Is There a Way to Get the Softkeys to Stay Lit Longer on the Sprint LG Viper 4G LTE?

I've noticed that the softkeys on the new LG Viper do not stay lit after you are in the menu and using the phone. It means that you pretty much have to memorize the position of the home, menu, back, & search softkey buttons in order to tap them. Does anyone know of a way to get those softkeys to stay lit? I couldn't find anything in the settings that would help with that. Also, if there is no way to get them to stay on, is this something one of our amazing devs could create a custom "fix" for?

Does your Viper have such settings like "keyboard timeout"? That would be the fix. I don't know if such apps exist, but the devs can fix it on their ROMs.

Nope... I can't find a keyboard timeout feature at all. I think I've been through every setting on this phone.

I know this is a way old thread, anyway w/ the new ICS update, you can change the softkey settings...i personally turned mine off for battery life, but there's plenty of different timeout options.
