This link has been posted countless of times virtually everywhere. From what I understand, it's not an actual root in the sense that they person is a Moto Developer that has used his dev tools to accomplish the task. Apparently, he does not want to reveal his "secret" due to his desire to maintain the developer status. But again, it's nothing to get excited about.

I have lost all faith in AT&T and Motorola in reference to getting this device rooted. I’m pending an HTC Incredible and no longer care about my backflip nor AT&T’s service since I’ve been loyal since Cingular. If anyone has compiled and need a tester, I offer my backflip for testing. Just contact me when you have something cooked up and I’ll provide any feedback needed.

Dude, you've posted that message in at least 3 different threads. We get it.

Who exactly do you think plans to root the phone? AT&T and Motorola? How do you lose faith when they are the powers that be who actually LOCK the phone down?

I wish I was more of a unix geek....unfortunately I have spent too many years in windowsland. The Backflip has only been out a few months on ATT hasn't it? I am sure someone will root it eventually.

Oooh I'm losing faith. For crying out loud people, the phone has been out 3 months. It took longer than that to do a decent jaibreak in the first iPhone.
Don't speak to me of the crunch. You know nothing of the crunch.
You've never even been to the crunch.
