Backflip is open source? Has No one seen this?

I've been lurking and I never heard anyone mention anything about.. this ->

    https://opensource.motorola.com/sf/projects/backflip

Wouldn't this enable to compile our own update and 'trick' it into thinking it's the real one, injecting our own exploit into the system for which to root it with?

I'm a noob but I haven't seen anyone link to this in any of the posts.

Well your half right... that's what we need to cook our roms, but we need a signing cert. To have our phone accept it. There are a couple of guys working on getting around this now so we'll see if it is possibe shortly.

Any chance that looking at that 13.35 update file in a hex editor will reveal anything?

We've all seen it, the problem is that it needs to be signed or the Backflip is never going to accept it.

What about something similar to a 'cd swap'?

For some game systems in order to play burned games you can 'CD Swap'. You load the first real game but at a certain point you swap it with another burnt disk. It reads the real CD's keys and accepts it but you swap it and it then runs the burnt disk like normal.

Is there any way to do something like this? Swap the update with another update after accepting the keys?
