    android trickery exploit for root

unless someone has tried this and it didn't work I'm going to try to cross compile http://c-skills.blogspot.com/2010/07...-trickery.html as the readme with the poc says it works on android 1.x and 2.x. This is the same exploit that was recently used to root the droid x.

It sounds like there are some bugs in the process that they are figuring out.

I really hope this works as well. I wish I was at home and could try it out and put in some suggestions, but I won't be near a computer for a few hours.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on that thread this morning. I'd like for this to work, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Yes and no. The phones are still different and an exploit that works for one phone may not work on ours. Files can be in different places, have different security restrictions and so on.

That's the reason that although the Cliq and the Backflip are very similar, the exploit used on the Cliq had been fixed and didn't work for the Backflip.

That said, this does look promising.

So is it now a definite no for this method?
