    Let me rephrase that.

On device, if I type su, it changes to #. (I had to allow superuser privelages)

On Windows, if I type su, it says permission denied.

    Code:

Copy all the Files from Moto_MSM_Root into tools folder.

Actually, what would be easier, instead of copying all the files into the tools folder, is to do what amingv said. Go to your tools folder in the cmd and type

    set Path=%Path%;%cd%
or copy and paste it. But this is only temporary so if you close the cmd then you have to type that again next time you use it.

This is true. I forgot about that because I set my path when I installed adb. If you do this, you can use adb regardless of what directory you are in

Good, then you've got root. Open an adb shell and type in "su". Your phone might prompt you for confirmation on granting root access to the shell, allow it.
When you get the # prompt, copy and paste these commands, one line at a time and in order:

    Code:
    mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
    cd /system
    dd if=./recovery.img of=/sdcard/recovery.img
    rm ./recovery.img
    mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
    About your edit:
As soon as you type su on windows, check your phone screen. You have to allow the operation.

Funny enough, you have to allow su priveleges to your pc. Idr exactly how I made it prompt, I was using AndroidCommander at the time, but once that happens, su will work in adb shell

Check that post again cause I edited it.

Your telling me to copy and paste, so it sounds like you want me to do it on the computer.

Thats what I was thinking iTylerA but I didn't know if that was possible.

EDIT: If you leave your phone unlocked when you type su, it will pop up asking for access. Lol I seemed to figure that out right as you posted that amingv. I figured that was it but last time I typed su then I unlocked it and nothing came up. Or maybe it was just too late idk.

So, now do I need to do this? (From the post I downloaded the rom from)
    Code:
    adb shell
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img
Also how exactly do I run a backup with nandroid? I thought I just needed to get to the recovery screen but I can't seem to get there.

Yes, copy the j_r0dd file to your sdcard and run those commands.

To make the backup open adb shell, type su and run this command:
    Code:
    reboot recovery
The phone will restart into recovery mode and you'll get a menu. You can use volume up/down to navigate, the power button to select an item and the camera button to go back.

To make a backup select the "Backup/Restore" option on the menu, select "Nand backup" on the next menu and hit the power button to confirm. Once the backup completes, hit the camera button to go back to the main menu and select "Reboot system now", the phone will boot normally.

Your backup will be located in a folder called "nandroid" on your sd card. Copy it to your computer or to other secure location.

Thanks! This one little detail has been bothering me for awhile.
