    fldodger= You are absolutely right!!!
Why am I running a command that doesn't reside in the folder. Maybe that's why I'm getting the errors.
Would you believe it took me hours to make this damn thing work.
I've only slept 3 hrs and you do need to be rested, be calm and able to think clearly.
Before I saw yours and iTylerA's response, I asked myself why fight it.
If I can run su from the phone, then forget adb's permission denied problems on the pc and just
    continue on the phone.
I ran a search on Root explorer to find where flash_image was found it at /system/bin.
Did a cd to that and ran the flash_image. Voila!!
I had a hard time trying to find how to type an underscore(lol).
Ran the reboot recovery and took me the bootloader section.
I took a bunch of pictures and will post later.
I was so nervous and kept on hitting the damn power button instead of the camera button to complete the backup and reboot the system.
Yes I see the nandroid folder and it's contents in the sdcard after the backup.
I'm ready for the next step. Will post the pictures late tonight.
    Thanks to all!!!

I have the same setup @ my house..

Ok If you put you dev in your home folder ~/androidDev then you will need to type
    /home/user/androiddev/tools/adb ***Commands Here****

You can either add Dev to your path or type out the location longhand.

    Feel Free to PM me..

    Hope that helps.

I can still go to the terminal emulator on the phone and get the #prompt from su.
I switch back to the pc, open adb shell>su and while typing a line, in about 2 seconds I get permission denied.
    Is my rooting probably corrupted?
I had the same issue with adb shell> su. There was a tiny step that I missed.

When you type this command for the first time look at the screen on your phone. Superuser App will launch and ask you for permission to grant adp a super user status.

Dbagjones, the backed up crapware is stored on the SD card in tar.gz format. Do I need to unzip them before copying them back to /system/app?

Thank you!! I have searched hi and low and couldn't figure this out. Will try it when I get back home.
