    Quick and easy question...

    Havent rooted yet cause Im waiting for a couple days more feedback but..
    Say I were to flash j_r0dd's recovery.img to the phone.. In order to be able to restore my phone to what AT&T gave me, can I just cp the original recovery.img to my sdcard before deleting it off the phone and save it so I can reflash it back if need be?

    watatek, Dbagjones PMed all of the original apks in a zip file. I appreciate your offer of help, but now looks like you can do something more productive with your time. :-)

    mojohn....No problem. I'm at work so can't quite do this. Can you let us know how it turns out, if you see the apps again. Did you get only the apk.gzs?

    ok... what am I doing wrong? I sat for 4 hours last night while nandroid was doing a backup and it NEVER finished, tried it again today and gave up after an hour's worth of blue .'s. Should it be taking this long? I've got an 8GB sd card that's freshly formatted, so I'm not running out of room.

    @watatek: Could you give me a step by step walk through on how you got the recovery to work? Thanks in advance

    buknasty88....

    This was what happened to me:
    I went to the location I downloaded the SDK and opened a command prompt of
    where the tools folder was located.
    C:\SDK\tools>adb shell
    $ adb push j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img /sdcard
    adb push j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img /sdcard
    adb: permission denied
    $ exit

    Opened the terminal again:
    C:\SDK\tools>Set Path=%Path%;%cd%
    C:\SDK\tools>adb push j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img
    712 KB/s (0 bytes in 4235264.005s)
    C:\SDK\tools>adb shell
    $ flash_image recovery /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img
    error writing recovery: Permission denied

    As you can see the j_r0dd file was copied to the sdcard but got an error trying to flash the .img file.
    I noticed that I was able to run su and get the # prompt from the phone so I ignored the pc and did the rest from the terminal emulator on the phone:
    $ su
    # cd /system/bin
    # flash_image recovery /sdcard/j_r0dd-mb300-v1.7.4.1.img
    # reboot recovery
    Phone will restart and follow the rest of the procedure on this forum.
    After everything was done MACTEP had posted this tip regarding running su from the terminal on the pc:
    "When you type this command for the first time look at the screen on your phone. Superuser App will launch and ask you for permission to grant adb a super user status. "

    So try this:
    Go back to the terminal on the pc of where your tools folder is
    and type at the prompt:
    $ adb shell
    $ su
    You will see a message in the terminal on the phone prompting you to allow permission.
    That is to achieve the superuser right and you will get the # prompt on the pc.
    Had I done this everything would have gone right from the pc end without having difficulty
    typing everything from the small keyboard of the phone.
    Hope this helps.

    Just running it from the phone is way EASIER than the other crap I was doing. Thank you so much .

    i've done everything watatek listed (thanks for that su tip lol) but once i get to # rm recovery.img it tells me that there's no such file or directory....... did I miss a step? or the phone isn't rooted like I though it was

    EDIT---- how do you type an underscore in SU lol

    The search on my phone didn't find one either.
    Like Skrilax_CZ said..." Note: Delete this file (if exists) if you are about to flash the custom recovery: "/system/recovery.img"."

    For the underscore:
    keep phone and keyboard folded in.
    hold menu key down till keyboard shows
    hit the ?123 button on the bottom left.
    hit the ALT button and the underscore is on the second row.
