how do i enable install non market apps when i have root

This is a discussion on how do i enable install non market apps when i have root within the Motorola Backflip Development & Hacking forums, part of the Motorola Backflip category; I couldn't get it to work, but it's really easy to just use the sideloading app from Android Central, so I'll just stick with that....

to what app are you refering to and on another note cant we just write our own package installer that ignores the nonmarket setting and replace the default one with ours

Are you keeping origional permissions when pushing back to phone?

    "adb shell
    cd /system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.providers.settings
    chmod 644 secure.mkitso"

(of course beforehand do a nandroid backup in case it doesnt work)

Hard reset, then see if you have the toggle in settings>apps
    CURRENT
    HTC Aria-Rooted
Motorola Backflip Bricked getting replacement =(

    FORMER
    HTC Touch Pro (Fuze)
    LG Incite-Returned.
    ATT Tilt Broken charger port.

I tired it and no luck then I used Root Explorer and changed it there but still doesn't work (644 = All read/write)

And yes I checked to make sure it saved, the file is changed....

If I had a backflip still I'd help you guys out, but I'm affraid if I had kept that piece of garbage any longer I would've gone insane.

The backflip is going to be stuck in the past. Even when you're just getting 2.1, we're all getting 2.2. -_-
