Sounds like your at step 7, the instillation of the USB Driver. As per the directions, just proceed to the next step. If thats the case then move on to Step 8. The phone wont fix itself

    Maybe I'm being misunderstood

    1. Install your USB Drivers (if you haven't already)------INSTALLED
    2. Install RSD Lite-------INSTALLED
    3. Turn off your backflip--------OFF
    4. Plug the USB cable into the phone and computer-------PHONE TURNS ON BY ITSELF, SO I HOLD J+D TO GET TO THE NEXT STEP
    5. Open the keyboard and press J+D+Power simultaneously and let up when you see the blue recovery screen with the black moto batwings. In the bottom left corner of the screen it will say in white letters "USB init mode"-----BLUE SCREEN WITH WHITE "Bootloader USB Init"
    6. Now when the phone boots to the recovery screen, Windows will begin installing a driver for the MSM720x flash recovery mode.-----POPUP "Motorola Flash Interface [Checked] Ready to use"
    7. After the driver has successfully installed, open RSD Lite----PROGRAM OPEN
    8. Upon opening RSD Lite, you should notice ONE connected device in the table below. If not, post what you did exactly and we can help ----NO DEVICES LISTED

This is where I'm stuck. The phone remains at the blue creen with black Motorola Logo with the white lettering "Bootloader USB Init".
RSD Lite does not recognize the phone.
I can't seem to proceed past the "Bootlaoder USB Init" screen.

EDIT::: OMG, changed the DeviceID Options setting to "First-Come-First-Serve DeviceID Mode", restarted RSD Lite and whala!!! the phone is listed as "Flash MSM7210A" Progress!!

EDIT:: Ok, looking at this again with a clear head, yep, took overnight to do... It seems that it is step 6 is where the issue is. The phone does not progress past the blue screen with black batwings (logo) and the Bootloader USB init. How long should this take? I've even tried accessing the bootloader recovery screen without the USB cable plugged in.

Sorry, I've been out of the country for a little while. Bangladesh has terrible internet. Anyways, I'm back now, and I'll have you up a video tomorrow evening.

I just got the captivate and I gave my wife the backflip until she is due for a phone replacement (6 months). So I wanted to give her a fresh start by brining the phone back to 13.37 build. I run W7 x64 at home and I tried the instructions as mentioned but it kept failing at 99% and after 3 tries I gave up. So I tried it on my other PC which is still running XP SP3 and it worked like a charm. However I did turn off Antivirus as well on the XP PC (AV was turned on on my W7 PC) and I am not sure if that had an effect. I figured I would share with people that are having issues.

Thanks for posting this guide as this makes live so much easier.

Why is it that my phone not back to out of the box form after doing this process?
The home screen was still setup like I had it minus market apps, folders and stock apps were still in place.
All market apps were gone all stock apps were back.
All att contact numbers were back, and mine were still there also.
Also none of the stock widgets were back on the home screen.

Sounds to me like it did what it should. When you buy the bflip from the store it has widgets and such on the home screen. When you do a factory reset it as a shortcut for the browser, market and the calculator i tihnk.

Actually Motoblur will restore whichever stock widgets are still present and whichever shortcuts to stock apps and folders that are still present. I imagine it tries to restore everything but missing apps can't be restored.
