Used z4root to root the phone.
Used Titanium Backup to remove components. Removed too many, lost functionality - phone calls would closed instantly, contacts closed instantly, google constantly sync.
Ran a factory reset from inside the phone. Worked except registering for motoblur would stall out.
    Installed RSD Lite v.4.5.7.
I assume drivers were already installed becuase I use the phone like a flash drive and it charges prior to my mess up.
    Downloaded 13.37 from orignial post
Ran Flash in USB init mode (blue screen, black logo, white letters)
PASSED, reboots with black screen, blue stripe, "Bootloader USB Init" white text
After multiple flashes with the same rom, and a freshly downloaded copy of the same from the original post
STILL REBOOTS "PASS" with black screen blue strip and white USB init text.

Someone please help me. . .
If you updated to 2.1, you can't go back to 13.37 which is 1.5. The original post is updated to the new 2.1 SBF which should be 13.35. Also, if RSDLite says it's successful... while the phone is on and the bootloader is showing a black screen with USB init... pull the USB cable from the phone, and then pull the battery. While the battery is out, hold the power button for a solid 30 seconds... then try booting up.

I may have misunderstood which version I was pushing to my phone. I used what ever was on the first post of this thread as of Dec 1. As for the power button magic, tried that with no avail. Left the battery out and no cable plugged in all night (4 hours) phone will not respond to buttons. If I plug it into the charger black screen USB init. Once it is on I can manually shut it off with the button, but it immediately reboots into USB init. the phone still responds to RSD lite and passes after finishing [EDIT] I may be a total noob at this, but my file says "att motus viper 0.13.35 which would indicate to me that it is the incorrect version. The modmymobile site says that 0.1390 is the ROM for 2.1. I want to try and re-flash the phone with that file. Does anyone have it, modmymobile it taking a bit to confirm my account.

I would suggest getting it directly from M3, but I've mirrored it here.

I'm back up and running. The link at the beginning of this post is for 1.5 users while I had already upgraded to 2.1 which updates the firmware to 0.1390. I ran the flash with the new rom and bam, it worked. Ran z4root and I'm back to 2.1 rooted. Now I'm starting the process of deleting the att bloatware which plagues my rom. Thanks for the quick responses everyone.

I have JRod's 2.1 and recovery installed. I want to reset this and get back to the old 1.5 so I can update to the official 2.1. Is this the way to do it or what do I need to do? Is it even possible?

After flashing any 2.1, you can't go back to 1.5. The radio firmware gets flashed with any recent 2.1 install. JRodd's newest 2.1 ROM is based off Motorola's official 2.1 ROM. The link I gave you to re-flash your Backflip, skips the 1.5 and flashes you directly to the retail 2.1 that comes from AT&T.

Dorian is correct. Just use RSDlite to flash the 2.1 image from ATT and don't bother trying to flash back to 1.5 as that will brick your phone.
