    c:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb remount
    remount failed: Operation not permitted

That error means you need to flash j_r0dd's Unsecured boot.img. It is pretty simple, all you have to do is download the file corresponding to your system here: [MOD] Unsecured Boot.img (if you are in the US, probably the first one), copy it to your sd card (making sure it is named boot.img), and then type the following at a command prompt:

    adb shell flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img

Reboot your phone and then you should be able to type adb remount to remount your /system partition (this will also default you as su whenever you run adb, instead of always having to type su).

    you did it, reboot

    #flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img <--Displaying that after the command with no errors generally means it worked (im pretty sure)

    It worked

Go into adb shell after rebooting your phone
If you automatically start with # then its done

i did make a backup, but i ended up using the 13.77 image anyways, i downloaded a bit too many apps that i did not need, and re-rooting took less than 5 min with all the files already on my SD card. i re-downloaded all the apps that i needed

but the one question i have-- will the boot.img file erase my ability to tether, i know some people who have it cannot tether, and i can w/o it

well I thought my tethering worked fine, it did last time I tried it, but then I remembered the last time I used it was before root was even out. So i tried it again, and yeah tethering isnt working for me with the unsecured boot image

ok I see that but the boot screen is still the same........ I feel like this is something very easy but i just can't figure it out :-( and I know its right under my nose too.

the thin that confuses me is do i do this from the pc or do i do some of this from the terminal on the phone.

you did the boot.img then pushed the framework-res.apk to your phone again?

if youre successfully pushing the framework-res.apk file to your phone, then the only reason I could think of that would prevent you from seeing your boot screens is if they are an improper format.
