    Tethering

    is there a good working tether application for use with linux? there's one that doesn't require root but it's only for windows, and now we have root. i've tried one or two but none seem to work. is there one someone's found to work? :backfliplay:

    I got it working great it uses Barnacle to make a wifi Hotspot.

    I followed the directions below and tethering appears to work (haven't checked out whether my laptop can connect, but Barnacle is up and running):

    Tethering Working
    I posted earlier that i could not tether, i finally got it to work, below will be the step by step instructions:

    1) download the latest version of barnacle wifi tether from here: szym.net: Barnacle Wifi Tether

    make sure to get .5.1

    2) select "skip wpa_supplicant"

    3) go to DHCP

    4) select DNS 1 and put: 8.8.4.4

    5) select DNS 2 and put 8.8.8.8

    6) click start AND ENJOY TETHERING!!!!!!

    Apparently this application does not work if you have j_r0dd's custom recovery image.

    No it doesn't work if you flashed the busybox update.zip.

    I have ever custom recovery flash and barnacle working just fine. As for busy box is will try this later today.

    I installed j_r0dd's custom recovery and busybox. Works as advertised for me.

    I tried barnacle at one point but didn't know what i was doing, so i'll try again

    EDIT
    : I follow mojohn's directions. Barnacle started up fine. showed up on my laptop's wifi thing. but won't connect. help???

    Is there any reason why you don't want to use the PDAnet app? All you do is take out your sim card.. restart your phone (connect to Wifi) and you can find it in the market place.
