Doesnt really mean anything for the Backflip. Moto already has phones running 2.1 with Blur on them. Its still not the same hardware as the Backflip.

The 2.1 has been "Coming Soon" for months now. There have been movies to go through the theaters, then come out on DVD an we're still stuck at "Coming Soon to a Backflip Near You"

The Flipout has been released in Latin America since about April I think. This isn't really new news. You could also point to the Charm which was just released, also running Android 2.1 with Motoblur.

So has the Flipout been launched by AT&T? I see no mention of it on their website. No news about it either...

I haven't heard anything about it being released. I can't see them doing a silent release. My guess is it was bad information. I haven't even heard that it was coming to ATT.

According to this article, it should've been launched yesterday: AT&T Flipout arriving tomorrow, Windows Phone 7 October 17th?

Both articles in this thread seem to quote Engadget. There is still no mention anywhere from ATT or Motorola's US website about the Flipout.

Agreed. The Backflip wasn't a phone AT&T was proud of, I don't believe. I don't think they'll launch another MotoBlur phone like the Backflip for a while. The FlipOut is an interesting idea, but it still has that level of MotoBlur integration. Basically it has the original Droid's internals. OMAP core, and SGX530 graphics, so it wouldn't necessarily be as slow as the Backflip, but still...
