    Multitouch

Could someone PLEASE create a fix for this?

I know moto said the hardware doesn't support it, but they said the same about tethering, and I can clearly tether my phone

I don't believe that Motorola has ever said that the hardware of the phone did not support tethering, only that tethering is an Android 2.2 feature (which is correct).

If the hardware physically is incapable of multi-touch then there isn't much anyone can do to get around that.

And It is not so much Motorola.. I am guessing they could care less if you tether.. At&t on the other hand.. They more than likely... Asked to block all tethering apps from the app store.. I was able (Prior to root) side load a USB Tether app to my phone..

I believe that with the exception of T-Mobile, all of the US carriers block tethering apps from the Market. Now that T-Mobile has started charging for tethering, I wouldn't be surprised if they start to do the same.

ya, the no tethering is a carrier thing. they like to charge you extra for the privilage of using your existing data plan w/ another device. double charging imo

If anyone is willing to get detailed internal shots of the Backflip, I can tell you if it's capable of MT. It could be like the Xperia X10 though... Multitouch capable, hardware wise, but a nightmare to build support for, and it only registers 2 points. My guess is that the Backflip does have the hardware capabilities of MT, like the Cliq XT, but building support in will require kernel mods.

    I agree...

But then aren't the Cliq and the Backflip using the same hardware? Why then did they not just include the feature?

The Cliq and the Backflip are VERY close hardware wise, but the Cliq XT is keyboardless. They included multitouch there probably because they decided not to implement a physical keyboard.
