    Software upgrade on Unlocked backflip

    Hi,

I just got an unlocked backflip from ebay.

    1. If i upgrade the software ( to eclair), will it again locked ? should i un-lock again ?
    2. Will I be able to download any apps from the market. I'm not gonna use AT&T; No data plans. But, through Wi-Fi.?

    Please suggest. Thanks.

By unlocked, you mean carrier unlocked?

If it's been properly unlocked with the carrier unlock code, then no, flashing a software upgrade will NOT re-lock it. Once the device is unlocked, the unlock is stored in the baseband radio firmware and it cannot be undone.

And yes, it should work just like a normal Android phone. You'll be able to use it with the Market just like normal, through WiFi or Cell Network.

    My sincere Thanks Dorian.

Yes. It is carrier unlocked. I started using it with "T-mobile". Let me try to upgrade to 2.1.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,

Ponganesh, Do you happen to know what service the Ebay seller used to unlock the phone for T-mobile?
Was this previously an ATT phone or other?

    thx
