[Kernel MOD] Overclocking + 2.6.29.6 Patch
I finally have a working compile: 2.6.29.6 Kernel + OC up to 748Mhz
Download here: Patched Kernel with OC Mod
Note: The files in this zip are only for use on phones using the official Moto 2.1 firmware.
Also, I suggest you install SetCPU before you apply the mod. Make sure you have the default speed of 528 max and 122 min set on boot.
Quick Instructions:
Open a terminal and or MS-DOS Prompt and issue the following commands...
1. adb remount
2. adb push boot.img /sdcard/
3. adb push dhd.ko /system/lib/
4. adb shell
5. cat /dev/zero > /dev/mtd/mtd0
6. You will see this message: "write: No space left on device". Ignore it.
7. flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
If you don't understand any part of this, DO NOT continue. I will not be held responsible for any data loss. Use at your own risk...

do you think that maybe you could make it so we can overclock higher?

Overclocking too much could be dangerous.

Yes, there is a version compiled specifically for Preclair.
You can find the development thread here: Backflip OC Kernel Development Thread

An OC Mod story. . .
Its been a hot minute since someone has posted on this thread so I thought i would be a good idea to share my experience. BTW, everything I have learned about everything has come from reading forums (mostly attdroids and modmymobile).
Installed jrodd's recovery (amazing tool)
Installed jrodd preclair 1.3.1 and setup the phone (btw he still has :blur: on the phone)
Installed oc widget
Installed jrodd MT OC patch
After fiddling around with oc widget got up to 748MHz, ran smooth for a few minutes.
Used Gscript mod to boot into recovery. upgraded the partition from ext 2 > ext 3
upgraded partition from ext 3 > ext 4 then reboot
STUCK IN BOOT LOOP (green man logo keeps freezing then phone restarts)
I am thinking that the problem lay in OC widget. I had read on modmymobile that SetCPU had caused problems when it is set to activate on boot. I went through oc widget and made sure that there was no such setting enabled prior to my reboot. It is also possible that not doing a fresh reboot before fiddling around with the ext partitions could have fouled something up.
So, I went back to recovery, re-flashed the jrodd 1.3.1 image. Back to normal except for some odd reason it is not finding my att microcell (but it is a pos at best).[EDIT 1: Microcell fixed with reboot] As I wait for my google to sync I am contemplating doing all necessary mods to enable ext 4 and get apps2sd working.
[EDIT 1: I can confirm that it was not the ext upgrading that caused my issue as I have done them again and booted up fine. Must be something with oc widget or oc mod]
[EDIT 2: Got apps 2 sd working with no problems. just a mis understanding on how the program functioned. got setcpu and ran the oc mt patch and so far so good. I'm running a 748MHz. Ran a stress test 162701ms with no errors at 748.]
