Everything I have tried does not work, Do I press the alt L and Alt W at the same time
This is a discussion on Stuck on Boot Screen within the Motorola Backflip Tech Issues / Bug Reports forums, part of the Motorola Backflip category; Everything I have tried does not work, Do I press the alt L and Alt W at the same time...
My phone was stuck in a reboot loop also. I battled with this problem for 3 days. Even talked to Motorola Tech support which was useless. They said they needed to refer me to Level 2 tech support and that it could take 48 hours to hear back from them. Well its been over 48 hours and they still have no contacted me!.
In my frustration a little while ago I showed a friend my problem. The phone was sitting at the triangle with ! screen all day and I was like hey look I press ALT-L and ALT-W and nothing happens. To my surprise when I hit ALT-L the menu came up! I tried it several times before with no luck so the only thing I can think of is that it was still doing something at the Triangle screen and I didn't give it enough time?? And I mean like hours!
After I did the factory restore thing seem to be working again, I still get random reboots when using the camera but it seems to be working otherwise.
I'm a little worried about this phone though, I leave for a trip out of the country next week and I really don't need this to happen when I'm away!
Are you guys ready for the fix? Here it is:
Make SURE the phone is closed when you hit Alt-L. Seriously, that's all it is.
GOT IT. You need to tap the bottom right hand corner of the screen when the triangle appears.
I tried this AND IT WORKS!
It took just a few minutes.
- Power off phone.
- Hold camera button and power on phone at the same time.
- Release the camera button when prompted to.
- You will see a message screen telling you to press the up or down volume button
- Press the down volume key (ignore message 'Volume Up Key Pressed')
- When triangle and phone screen appears
- Press on the screen just above the back key
- You will now see the "Motorola system recovery" menu
At this point you will have three choices:
- reboot system now [Menu+Back]
- apply ssdcrad:update.sip [Alt+S]
- wipedata/factory reset [Alt+W]
You can simply tap am item to select it.
At the bottom of the screen you can select OK to apply your choice from the menu.
There is also an opportunity to select Hide on the bottom left, I don't know what that does (I tried it and nothing happened).
Selecting Wipe data/factory reset and tapping Ok and the screen changes to a box and a phone (Get it - out of the box) and you see what is happening on the phone.
pressing Menu+Back did nothing for me so I tapped 'reboot system now' on the menu and Ok.Code:->pick 2 -- Wiping data... Formatting DATA:... Formatting CACHE:... Data Wipe Complete. Press Menu+Back to reboot
The phone restarted and took me through the setup prompts.
It took longer for me to type this than to do the reset.
Yep tried techfurys fix and sure enough he was right. Moto Tech support never bothered to send me to level 2 tech support.
