My friend has a backflip. We have tried updating it to 2.1, but the update will not take. We have followed Motorola's instructions to a T. Tried all methods offered by Moto as well. Suggestions?

Upgrading to 2.1 FROM 1.5 is hairy at best. Try backing up your stuff and clean flashing with the stock 1.5 SBF. Then once 1.5 is cleanly re-flashed, try updating to the 2.1 SBF. I wrote up a guide on it here. <-- With links to the SBF's and flashing tools.
Thanks guys! I didn't want to bother with the rooting and romming until we got it up to 2.1 the I can't believe I didn't think of sbfing the the thing. I have no experience, but I expect the guide will help. Ill be back if I need more help.
