I have Family unlimited messaging on my plan, and have Smartphone Personal w/out messaging on my backflip. I called ATT, and was told that Mobile Video requires an additional $10 a month to use.
Anyone else have this problem? or are you getting the video free?
There's "MobiTV" in there and "Mobile Video". Two different things.
MobiTV is a $10/mo subscription streaming TV service. Mobile Video is free.
AT&T wants you to have one of their unlimited data plans for your 3G network connection with them to use these data heavy services.
Personally, I have a hunch that between the two services, MoviTV and Mobile Video, I suspect you get what you pay for. Mobile Video has seemed to be pretty much useless for me, so far. And as for MoviTV, I'm not willing to pay $10/mo for streaming TV service.
SlingMedia.com already supports the iPhone and is working on a client for Android phones right now which will work with their Sling Box.
When they release that, we should be able to control and watch our home cable box TV on our phones for free anywhere remote over the internet. (After buying a Sling Box for about $150 to install with our cable box at home, that is.)
That's my take on the whole thing, anyway.
I am still have problems getting Moble Video to work.
It says I need to upgrade my data plan, I have talked to AT&T CS and tech support with no luck.
If some of you other backflip owner could tryand access Moble video, could you post your results.
Success or upgrade required?
