Lock screen while in a call

I'm constantly hanging up on people because my cheek presses buttons on the screen during a call. Is there any way to completely lock the screen so no buttons can be pressed? It's driving me crazy!!!!!

You can push the power button during the call and the phone will go into 'sleep mode'. The touch screen and buttons won't work but the call is still active and you can talk and listen normally.

When done, just hit the power button again and the screen will come on so you can end the call.

The phone has a sensor that detects when it's close to your face during a call and automatically disables the touch screen (a feature that so far has worked flawlessly for me). Maybe the sensor in your phone is malfunctioning? Either way, as Lendal said, you can force the touch screen to turn off by pressing the power button.

As Zarathrustra spake, if your phone isn't locking the screen when it's up to your ear your sensor is possibly malfunctioning. You should have that checked out. I find that functionality invaluable, frankly! :-)

I notice that on rare occasions, my screen won't go dark when I talk on the phone. I dont' know if I am not covering the sensor right or not. It just happens rarely though, and hopefully its nothing serious.
