With the threshold being so low (only 1000 users) I know it's slim that I'll be able to get the update in the morning, but I'll be there spamming the "Check for updates" button trying.

Last I checked, the Motorola thread announcing it had less than 400 views, so as long as a big tech site doesn't get a hold of it I think our chances should be fairly good.

I'm guessing you got the email then?

For those that are not part of the Motorola Feedback Network, here is the text of an email I received at 4:40:

Motorola Feedback Network - Courtesy Alert to Backflip owners

    Hi.

Because you’re a member of the Motorola Feedback Network, we want to make sure that you know about tomorrow’s special “software pre-launch.” On Thursday May 13th we will have an optional early software release available for the Motorola Backflip. Our goal is to have 1,000 customers test and provide feedback on the software before it is officially released to all customers.

We will be making the preview software available via an over-the-air update from 6:00 a.m. PST until we reach 1,000 users.

If you want to participate, here’s how. Tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. PST, download and install the two-step software update from your home screen by going into Menu > Settings > About phone > System Update.

All we ask in return is that you provide Motorola with feedback on the Motorola's Backflip Forum on this thread only. (The thread will be locked until the update is released.) Please do not call AT&T or Motorola Customer Care with any issues – once you've completed the update successfully, again, please post your feedback and questions here in this thread. We'll be monitoring for any issues.

Note: This is not the Android 2.1 upgrade.

Hope to get a lot of Motorola Feedback Members involved!

    Thanks,

    - Matt

^Actually, a link was posted to the Motorola forum thread announcing it, but that email doesn't help our odds...

Hmm so does this mean that at 9:00 AM Eastern Time, I can attempt to download this update? Or is it somehow restricted to the West Coast?

Yeah, I agree, I don't think whether or not you received the email makes any difference as far as priority for getting the update or anything, just thought I would share.

Yeah, I am sure that you will have a chance at getting it starting at that time, it doesn't say anything about being restricted by region. Also I received an email from the Motorola Feedback Network about the update and I live in Arkansas.
