I have been offered a HTC Aria in exchange

AT&T has said they will exchange my BF for an Aria. I said I would sleep on it, my first thought was that it's a smaller phone...is that right?, from reading a few threads here though people that have made that switch are very happy.

They will only exchange a BF with an Aria in their Android line.

I believe it is somewhat smaller than the Backflip, yes. All of the reports I have seen though people are happy with it. It is much faster than the Backflip, having only a slightly faster CPU, but a much better CPU design.

I agree that you'll notice the increased responsiveness over the Backflip as stated above. You shouldn't notice any difference in screen size as they are nearly the same, but you'll most realize the size difference in the bulkiness feel in your hands; the BF gives you a little more to hold on to with the hardware keyboard being on there whether it's open or not. I would have actually gotten the Aria if I didn't have somewhat large hands; it just didn't feel right for me, plus I prefer a hardware keyboard for most things. Overall the Aria is a good phone, though.

Well there you go, I just got of the phone with AT&T and this costumer rep said that the other one should have given me more of a choice than the Aria, she said it is at their discretion.....she asked what phone I would like and I said the Captivate....so that is what they are sending me.

also, last night on the phone with their"Android Specialist" she was saying I should be using a task killer to help fix some problems with force closing and "other" problems....I was stunned I told her that an android specialist would tell me to use a task killer. I asked her to explain her rational and she hummed and hawed.....I told her that people's opinions I trust(on this board) say you should NOT use a task killer.....

Anyone else surprised that they are telling people this?. I asked her if this was standard practice and she said yes.

There isn't really anything wrong with using task killers to kill runaway or out of control apps. The problem is with people using them to auto-kill everything which actually causes more issues than they prevent.

Again, used surgically like a scalpel is ok, but as a nuke is bad.

My original BF was nothing but trouble since the update to 2.1.....force close issues all the time, I called three weeks ago to see what options I had , they sent me a replacement.....it was running 1.5 and would not let me sign in to motoblur.....they send another one...while not that many issues it was force closing but yeah I pretty much complained that I wanted a different phone......been a costumer for years, I have a family plan that pays them $180 a month. I impressed all of this on them , you go through the various hoops with the initial call, then all over again with the warranty department, they send you to the "android specialist" , rinse and repeat several times.....a lot also depends on who you get on the phone though.

Same thing here. Except, the first rep that I talked to gave me the option to just choose which phone I wanted off the wireless.att.com site. I said I wanted the Captivate and she said, Ok! Then it was shipped to me the next day. I've been an ATT customer for 11 years though... since before they were ATT...lol

ya, i tried complaining to att about some other issues, but when i moved from ohio to louisiana and changed my phone number, it reset my customer history since it's apparently a different market, from what they said. so the last 7 years w/ them didn't matter as the computer shows me as under a year now.... also missed my phone bill by 2-3 days on accident, different due date, and they shut off my phone that damn quick. not really happy w/ att anymore

but that's awesome you got a captivate for a bf trade.
