Need App to 'Wake Up Screen with Buttons'
We just bought my husband a droid 2 global. We are looking for an app that will 'wake up the screen' when its asleep so he doesnt have to press the power button. We loaded launcher Pro, but I dont seem to be able to find an option to use one of the buttons to wake up the screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sliding out the keyboard will wake the phone and present the lock screen. There may also be something in the accessibility settings that would do the same for you. Do you know where to find those?

Yes, I know sliding the keyboard does it.. but he was looking for another way to do it. I checked the accessibility options and dont see anything there that would do that.
I know on my 'X' there is somewhere where I can set that... but I use ADW. It might be a setting there.... Im not sure and not sure how different this phone is either.

I don't know as it'll work as the X has hardware buttons and the D2G has capacitive "softkeys".
There might be an app to bind the camera button to the same thing. Does the D2G wake up with the keyboard only partly open? I know my D1 does. About half an inch does the trick.
I don't know your situation so I apologize if my suggestions are inappropriate. Trying to brainstorm here.

I appreciate your help!! Yes, it will wake up if you just open the keyboard a bit. I think thats what he does most of time. He has a case on it that makes it hard to press the power button.
If thats what he has to do.... thats what he has to do. Oh the sacrifices one must make to have their own 'Angry Birds' game! :D

I tried a case on mine -- the top half wouldn't fit and the bottom half trapped all the heat in.
It went away.
A quick pop part-open and then closed should do it for him and be more convenient than fumbling for the power button, case-on or case-off anyway. But if you'd like I'll look to see if I can find an app that'll link to the camera button, assuming that's more readily accessible -- but then you have to worry about pocket problems.

Have you tried ScreenSuite, Goto lock screen or other lock alternative apps?

I did try widget locker and it didnt solve the problem. However...the problem is solved. He decided that the phone was too big for him, so we went and exchanged it for an Incredible. He loves it so far. As a matter of fact.. I love it too. It actually seems much smoother then my X. Oh well.
Anyway.. thanks for the suggestions and help.

How does he get that to wake up by touching the screen on the incredible? My wife's you got to press the power button for it to wake up on her incredible.

It would be smoother -- SenseUI is superior to MotoBlur in almost every regard, but especially in resource management.
