oh and maybe something else that you should add to the instructions is having enough juice on the battery left. You dont want it dying on you when its flashing.

so opted not to do data reset and now im on a bootloop of Rubix. Imma try a battery pull and try to get to the recovery and do the reset and see if it clears up my problem. Ill update soon.

    Update:
Gosh i feel like such a noob. Looks like the factory reset is working. The droid eye appeared now. Hope all goes well.

    Update2:
    It WORKS!! Thank you!

Yup. Stuck in boot loop, stock recovery /factory reset will fix.

This is a bit confusing, especially considering the last few posts. Am I correct to say that when we enter clockworkmod recovery, we should do a data wipe/factory reset and wipe cache BEFORE installing the maderstcok.zip file? Or are we supposed to do so AFTER installing the maderstcok.zip file and BEFORE installing a ROM?

After flashing the zip you must reboot. If you do anything else in clockwork after flashing the zip it will cause you to brick and you'll have to use the SBF. Its worked for many people before without wiping, but if they bootloop, they'll have to wipe data/factory reset in stock recovery. So ya, its probably a good thing to wipe data/cache, install zip, and then reboot.

After installing the maderstcok zip, am I supposed to select "apply sdcard:update.zip"? Or do I just reboot? And I really shouldn't do a wipe after installing the maderstcok update file?

Edit: Ok, I read again, and seems like I just need to reboot.

Ok, I just did the reboot. I figured it out after I read back through things a couple times. Was just a little confusing the first time!

You just install in clockwork as a regular zip, never as an update.zip

    Thanks!

I registered specifically to say "thanks". I've been on Android only for a few weeks (after moving from an iPhone). I am very comfortable with hacking iOS, but Android is new to me and I've been having problems with upgrading the OS. I stumbled upon this thread, and after downloading many other incomplete OTA files, yours finally worked for me.

Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked to have my phone upgraded and am finally getting the hang of this thing.

    Thanks!

**EDIT** After getting onto .340, I installed the Gingerbread update and it bricked it. It loads the red Motorola icon then goes to the bootloader. What do I do to fix this?
