    Camera App

Hello All- First post, glad to be part of the community.

After way-too-much looking, I chose the DX as my first smartphone. I chose it based on this criteria: 1) phone quality 2) imaging (still and video) 3) Android OS ... and a few others. So far, I am disappointed with 2) but everything else has been superb. I am hoping that the capability the DX has -- 8MP camera and high-def video -- is currently being limited by the software. I know 8MPs do not necessarily equate to better images, that is more of function of the algorithms, however, I do have a lot to work with and my hope is that better software will take advantage of the raw data. Same with video, disappointing image quality when played back on my Vizio HDTV.

Perhaps someone can point me in the direction of some good software. I read through this link, and I read through the camera app link. Any other opinions? I have not come across any video software as of yet.

    Many thanx all
    -michael

This would be my suggestion as well - I haven't used it but it seems to get good reviews from those who do...

I just tried out the demo version.

Navigation seemed a bit difficult, but you would get used to it. Otherwise it takes really nice pictures. The camera effects that you can use are pretty cool, too.

I keep hearing Vignette as well. Guess that is the one to try.

Anyone have a video software vote?

I've got FX camera which is supposed to be so great. The ONLY time I use it is for night shots. It consistently gets auto white balance wrong , freezes my phone when trying to add borders, shuts all my volumes off from time to time .. set everything up manually, it's awesome but if I've got time to meter everything I've got time to use my standalone.
My stock camera does pretty good in most situations as far as everything on auto and it taking a decent shot. Its fast fast fast for taking pictures.
Vignette takes a great picture , the 10x zoom , especially for digital zoom, is much more accurate , steady shot is nice to have but just a tap on the screen (no slides , holds , presses needed) and your shot is taken so I usually don't bother with steady shot .
I've tried 360 camera, Retro camera and lots of others.
For a single shot I use Vignette but for just chasing my little girl around I use either the stock or Vignette as Vignette is not as fast as the stock camera to multi shoot.
They all revert to the stock video camera.
