The output should be in stereo unless the music was formatted in mono.

default output is stereo. its sending the same signal to your car stereo that it is if you plug in headphones.

Upgrade to a Bluetooth enabled radio.. I did and it's amazing, especially with PowerAMP.

I think my head unit must be messed up then cause my blackberry and evo all come out the left side only so I just use my x to give my ipod wifi for pandora and its an older version which still has no commercials plus its plug in makes it stereo but I do need to get a blue tooth radio. Decisions...decisions haha

I found that i needed to trim the plastic arounf the base of the plug where it goes into the phone so it would fully seat.

You most likely know but the mono plug has one black ring and the stereo plug has two.Name: Publication1.jpg

Now what would be reeeeeally cool is if the phone could output a line level signal that works better with aux inputs rather than headphone level signal.
Still you'll be at the mercy of the sound quality outputted by a "phone" as opposed to an audiophile level device, but I'd bet it hangs relatively close to an iPod in many respects.
