Back to Home Lag Issue
So I've had my Droid for almost a year now and it's stock.
Recently when using an app and I return to the home screen it's blank. I have to wait 25-30 seconds for all the desktop icons to reappear and for the phone to function normal. It has just started creeping along. I don't mind a slight 1-2 second delay but when I have to wait 30 seconds it starts to get annoying.
Has anyone else had this happen or better yet.... does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks,
Brandon

Have you rebooted recently? That may help.
Never do anything you have to explain to the Paramedics!

Look at memory usage. It sounds like the launcher app is getting killed by Android. Try deleting the Dalvik cache. That will clean out all the temp files.

Here is a known fix for redraw and third party launchers Root Access Required
In a terminal,
type su and enter.
Then type echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop and enter.
Then reboot.
If you want to undo what this command does, simply remove that toggle from: /data/[/I] [B]local.prop
Make sure there is a space between the >> and the /

Edit: I just realized you have a stock Droid - I don't know of any fix for that, but I do know how to Root if you are interested

If you're running a stock launcher, perhaps upgrade to a higher quality launcher like ADW, GO Launcher, Zeam, or Launcher Pro. They're all free from the market and better then stock.

Thanks guys!
My first thought was to reboot and that didn't fix it.
I'm using the stock launcher right now... I might have to try another launcher.

Thanks for the sympathy... I don't have the ability to upgrade for a couple months so I was hoping to get the kinks worked out.
I'm looking into another launcher right now.
BTW... this is forum is great. I've been flipping through pages and it's taking shape nicely.

I know it might not be the route you want to take but Rooting and running a custom ROM is like having a brand new phone -

How exactly DO you delete the Dalvik cache?
