    Update

    So I got the new phone. Did a factory reset before I did anything, and the second day I had it, I got the same problem. Has anyone heard of a fix yet?

    Exchange it again. Unfortunately it sounds like either a major software fault or a bad batch from the closest warehouse.

    You can keep exchanging it till you get one that works, they update the software to fix the issue, or you give up and get a different phone.

    Also, you need to let Motorola know. Seems how they are the ones responsible for fixes.

    I spoke with Motorola a few days ago and they were not yet aware of this issue. But it seems like other people have called them and they are now aware of it. And the rumors are, that they are going to have a fix for it, by the middle of the month.

    So now we wait and see.

    UPDATE - alas that trick didn't wasn't a soliution at all..I am restarting my phone every other morning. It seems the phone is the only thing affected as i can still get emails and texts?

    guess i'll be calling Motorola, and Sprint

    I'd suggest a PRL update. I know on Verizon it's *22899. It doesn't make sense that a Roaming List update would fix it, but sometimes the programming does amazing things.

    Also, check for a baseband update around the 'net.

    me too

    I have the same problem with my motorlola photon and i took it to sprint and they were just going to give me a new one but they are out of stock. its been two weeks since they got a shipment which i dont believe. it sure does suck because i need to make phone calls for my job

    Thanks for getting this thread going. I'm posting to add that I just experienced the same problem, on my second day of ownership. Very disappointing. I want to see Motorola succeed, but if they can't get the most basic function of a phone working, they're doomed.
