Why couldn't you use the pad supplied?

Post Well, I love the car dock

holds the phone very substantially. The base suction cup is of equally high quality. You could probably mount it on a motorcycle (flat spot of course) if
    you were so inclined.
The physical home button on the phone brings up the large, easy to see, road-ready icons. Including another "home" icon that will get you back to the normal mode.

Sound was surprisingly adequate... if you didn't have a car stereo of any sort. Power button and headphone jack not obstructed by holder design.

At $58 inc. tax and free shipping (5 days) its pricey but you can see why.

Because I don't want a disc permanently attached to the dash of my new car. I've heard it does not come off without leaving damage.

well it seems to work for the other guy too.
Either my dock doesn't make me rotate the phone that far to change to landscape or the fact that I have programs of profiles in my car that are overriding this, there are options to automatically rotate settings.

Just my two cents, for the life of me I can't understand why Google failed to have your contacts list rotate into lanscape mode while phone is in the car dock! I do alot of driving for my work and making calls on the road is a must!

    I agree.
However, the fix is hitting the big voice dialer button on the phone and telling it what to do. It can even launch apps as well as call people

I take it the car dock blocks the camera on the back of the phone? The reason I ask is that I drag race my car and I thought it would be cool to shoot video from the phone of the run going down the track.

EDIT: I just looked at the other review and saw that it doesn't. Pretty neat.

Gotta say the car dock is a PoS. I'd take a car charger and a standard phone holder anyday over this thing.

    Pros:
    Suction cup will never detach.
    Holds the phone fairly well.

    Cons:
Heats up the phone like crazy, I've never felt a phone that hot.
Limited range of motion, the pivot is limited in motion.
    Speaker is pretty bad.
Talking on speaker phone is pointless unless you have a dead silent car.
Voice commands don't work well on speaker phone.
The retaining clips makes me think I'm going to chip the top seam.
Suction cup is hard to get on, feels like you are going to break it.
Menus can act wonky when docked.

Interesting list of con's...my experience is that only 2 and 3 are "issues".
