I have noticed that my 3G seemed to be faster than my WiFi connection, so I downloaded the Speed Test app from the market and here are the results:
Down 1255 kbps
Up 882 kbps
Down 718 kbps
Up 219 kbps
I ran the online version from my desktop computer just to see that one and the results for that are:
Down 1.12 Mb/s
Up 0.13 Mb/s
Why is my 3G faster than my WiFi?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I just did it myself.
3G - 438kbps
wifi - 2645kbps
Wifi: 4462 down, 523 up (via ADSL, hence the low up speed)
3G: 1446 down, 905 up
i cant test 3g cos the network on my house is really bad, but i did a test in a friend's house and i got like 500 kb/s over 3g, and in my over wifi i get like 900
Here's my results, I use a N1 rooted with cyanogen. My wifi comes from comcast and my 3G/Edge from T-Mobile
Down: 14070 kbps
Up: 2088 kbps
Down: 716 kbps
Is that good, bad or ugly?
You are running at 1.9 megs. If you are paying for 8, call your ISP and have them reset your modem. I had to do this a few weeks ago when my modem was running VERY slow.
I checked the speeds at my office (we have a T1 line there) and WiFi at work is marginally faster than my 3G
3 G while at work
At home, there is a cell tower a couple of blocks away from my apartment. It is in a clock tower and I can see part of that clock when I look out my bedroom window. Would that - could that be a reason? Also, I was in the mountains and even though it is listed as a covered area on the T-Mobile map, I had no signal until I walked into town. My sister on AT&T (not a Nexus One phone) had a signal at one certain spot in the cabin. I tried standing in the same spot to see and I still didn't have a signal. I went into the Mobile Networks setting, scanned for networks and AT&T was the only one that my phone found. I tapped the AT&T listing and the screen closed. Could that have an affect?
Last question, when I first got my Nexus One, I came from a BlackBerry and just a couple of weeks ago, I called T-Mobile for a problem (K-9 would not send any emails anymore) and my phone was still provisioned for BlackBerry they changed that to Nexus One and had me power off and on my phone and my email problem was fixed. Could that be a reason? (It seems now after that change in provisioning my 3G icon is on more regularly now). Though, at the office I can see the 3G change to Edge Icon.
OK, a lot of questions here. Thanks in advance for your thoughts & replies.
FYI, a T1 line is only 1.54 Mbps in both directions.

With AT&T I've gotten very good speed wherever I've check it (on 3G).
