Great you live in Las Vegas. Do you know any stores that uses Square? I haven't seen any around. This seems like a great way to pay.

Not yet.. Sounds like the Dongles are just starting to get out in the mail (even for those who beta tested it last month or sooner). But it is something that anyone can use.. great example..

A friend that owes you money? next time you ask him and he says he has no cash.. ask him does he have his card? He says yes then whip out you phone/card swiper and smile

It seems you can use cash transactions with it right now. (When you get your free card reader it comes with a # so u can link it with your bank account etc etc).

Looking deep into it seems it is a very secure transaction and nothing is saved on your/their phone. Wish I had something like this back when i did Card/Comic shows but can see how it will be handy for Ren Fairs/County Fairs etc etc.

This app seems is very popular on the iPhone/iPad front! They had a article not to long ago, how a coffee shop was using a iPad with SquareUp exclusively as their cash register.

My only issue, is the security of the application..... but it seems like they are using very secure servers for the data processing, so I don't see it as a problem....

This is a GREAT app with lots of potential for usage, but I'm not EXACTLY sure if I would just swipe my credit card on someones phone like that. :P

To send your Square reader, we need to verify your identity by running a credit check. This reduces costs, keeps the Square network secure, and ensures compliance with required government and banking guidelines. As part of this process, Square may share your data with a trusted underwriting partner.
    I hate getting junkmail.

I signed up, and was limited to $100 transactions, and a $700 weekly limit. Totally useless to me! They run a credit check, too, btw...and I know I'm 802 FICO score, so...wtf!?!

This is the same place I stopped the registration process.
Also the transaction charges seem pretty high. Something like:
    2.75% + $0.15 for swiped cards
    3.00% + $0.15 for manually entered cards

Great idea for a small temp buisness though.
Come here little sheep; I have a nice juicy apple for you!

Wells Fargo's fees are 2.4% and 30 cents per, but they charge me $40/mo for the 'privilege' to use their merchant services. I used my own slider already.

Oh, and that's an UNDERWRITING PARTNER, not a spammer, btw.
