Tesla LED Flashlight (No Root) FroYo

Turn your Nexus One into a flashlight!
Requires Android 2.2. Does NOT require root.

Tesla LED Flashlight LED (Camera Flash) based Flashlight or "Torch" app for the Nexus One running Android 2.2. This is the first (and only) LED Flashlight application for the Nexus One that does not require root.

    Includes application and widget.

Don't want to sound stupid but what does root mean?

Not stupid at all. The other Nexus One torch apps that use the camera flash require you to hack your phone, also called "rooting" or "rooted" or having root access, similar to "jailbreak" in the iPhone world. It's a bit of work and voids your warranty.

Tesla LED does not require anything unusual, just download and run.

It may be the first. But not the only one.

LED Flashlight, does the same thing! And it's FREE! (Available in United Kingdom locale)! Does not require root!

Interesting, good to have some healthy competition.

"LED Flashlight for Froyo" doesn't have a widget or as nice of a UI.

I downloaded both - and the Tesla app is worth the small fee just for the widget. Much better app IMHO.

having the torch as a rooted user, I can say that a widget is the best for using this. Last thing you need is a flashlight and have to click a bunch of buttons and load up the program to work it.

Just installed the freebie and it works great. App to desktop, two touches in the same spot and I'm lit. Works for me!

I'm sure the paid app is better, more sleek and what not. But since I live in Sweden, I can't buy apps. Since paid market doesn't exist for us yet.

Maybe the new built in donate function will help solve thos problems?
